State constitutional amendments passed in three states protecting abortion rights while one anti-abortion measure remained too close to call Wednesday morning, but appeared headed for defeat.
Voters in Michigan decisively passed a proposal to create a state constitutional right to an abortion as well as contraception. With 84% of the vote counted, the yes votes enjoyed an 11% lead nearly 440,000 votes out of just over 4 million cast.
Michigan voters joined those in Vermont and California, which overwhelmingly supported a state constitutional right to an abortion in their respective states.

Breaking: There will be no Republican supermajority in North Carolina. This is HUGE news for abortion rights. Republicans were just a few seats away from winning the power to override Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper's veto and enact a total or 6-week abortion ban.— Caroline Kitchener (@CAKitchener) November 9, 2022
