'Check your sheds': Officials urge public's help as search for Brookfield woman stretches on

News

Standing in the cold outside the Brookfield Police Department, authorities searching for a missing 35-year-old woman issued a call Monday afternoon for local residents to check their properties and sheds, submit any video footage from security cameras to police, and send in tips that may lead to the womans whereabouts.

There are so many things we dont know right now, Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. said of the search for Brittany Tee, a Brookfield resident missing roughly a week.

On Tuesday, investigators hope to use K-9 units and the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing to comb an expanded search radius, Early said.

At a press conference Monday afternoon, he and local public safety officials asked Brookfield residents for their help in finding Tee.

We cant stress enough that if you have any tips, any information, no matter how small you think it is, definitely give us a call, Brookfield Police Chief Michael K. Blanchard said.

Check your garages, check your sheds. If youve got a hunting barn, check that, too, Early said. He also urged any residents with security cameras to send the footage to the police, regardless of whether the videos show anything suspicious.

If it doesnt lead us somewhere, it helps us to eliminate different things that can help us go in the right direction, Early said.Read more: Missing Cohasset woman Ana Walshe: What DCF does when a parent disappears

Since Friday, police have combed Brookfield, a rural town in southwestern Worcester County, for signs of Tee. She was last seen on Jan. 10 leaving a Brookfield home in the area of Lewis Field on Main Street but was not reported missing by family members until three days later.

Early said family members thought they knew where Tee was in the days after her disappearance. When it became clear that she was missing, he said they contacted the police.

Tee is described as 5 feet, 6 inches tall, 120 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. She was last spotted wearing a black winter coat, a hoodie, jeans and work boots.

Update on the investigation into the whereabouts of Brittany Tee, 35, of Brookfield. Anyone with information about Brittanys whereabouts is asked to contact the State Police Troop C Headquarters at 508-829-8326 or the Brookfield Police at 508-867-5570. Investigators continue to ask that anyone in Brookfield with video to contact police. Also, check any structures on your property, including sheds, barns or garages.Posted by Joseph D. The search has involved Brookfield area public safety agencies and multiple Massachusetts State Police units including the Special Emergency Response Team, K-9 Unit, Crime Scene Services Section and troopers assigned to the district attorneys office.

As of Monday, the case is being treated as a missing person situation, not a criminal investigation, Early said. But obviously were open to wherever the facts take us.

We dont want the public conducting a search at night, he said. But we do want people going out into their yards. If youre on a 40-acre, 60-acre farm wed love your help. If you see anything at all thats suspicious anything dont minimize it. We want the information. Theres no such thing as a bad tip.
